Fund Manager
Vineet Jainn serves as the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) at Volvin Limited, the firm that launched India's inaugural Alternative Investment Fund (AIF), the Volvin Growth Fund – Active Rabbit. This fund employs a Covered Call strategy, a prudent equity approach designed to generate superior risk-adjusted returns, evidenced by a high Sharpe ratio. BlackRock characterizes the Covered Call strategy as "earning more by losing less." Within a period of less than two years, the Volvin Growth Fund – Active Rabbit has consistently ranked among the top three funds in the Long Short category. Furthermore, it holds the top position in Sharpe ratio not only within the Long Short segment but also when compared to all mutual funds. Mr. Jainn aims to demonstrate to conservative investors that elevated returns can be achieved with reduced risk. He seeks to assure the investment community that derivatives can serve as effective tools for hedging and wealth creation, rather than solely for speculative purposes. The Covered Call strategy is recognized as an efficient mechanism for mitigating portfolio volatility and generating alpha, particularly in periods of market stagnation. With an extensive career spanning over three decades in equity markets, Mr. Jainn has successfully managed through significant financial downturns, establishing himself as proficient in navigating market volatility. He is recognized as a leading authority on the globally acclaimed Covered Call strategy, which is increasingly gaining traction in India. His experience encompasses navigating through critical market events such as the Harshad Mehta period, the dot-com bubble, the 2008 subprime crisis, and the recent COVID-19 pandemic. Mr. Jainn views each crisis as a learning opportunity, with failures serving as catalysts for success. Prior to his full-time engagement in financial markets, Mr. Jainn dedicated over 20 years to managing an auto component manufacturing and export enterprise. His profound interest in the stock market and his ambition to make a significant impact propelled him to establish a business as a first-generation entrepreneur. Possessing a degree in Industrial & Production Engineering and a Master's in Finance & Marketing from MDI Gurgaon, Mr. Jainn exhibits a deep comprehension of risk management principles and value investing methodologies. During his tenure at MDI Gurgaon in 1997, Mr. Jainn spearheaded the introduction of the first pan-India stock market competition for leading colleges and business schools, in collaboration with Business World. This initiative allowed participants to engage in trading derivatives and commodities prior to their official launch on Indian exchanges, highlighting Mr. Jainn's early innovative contributions to the financial landscape.
